Welcome to Merlin DiveCenter PADI in the Dominican Republic (DR). The small seaside town of Sosua lies about 10 minutes from the International Airport Gregorio Luperon of Puerto Plata (POP). The German dive school Merlin is located directly on the main beach, Playa Sosua. It is successfully in business since 1994. With almost two decades of experience with diving in the Dominican Republic it is one of the most renowned dive centers in the country. The two dive instructors Jürgen and Waldemar (PADI) run the base all year round. All dive guides are certified Dive Master or Dive Instructor and have known the dive sites for years. Classes and briefings are multilingual. We speak German, English and Spanish. Merlin follows the PADI standard instruction rules. All PADI trainings and certifications from Scuba Diver to Divemaster are available. Besides fun dives in small groups various special dives are possible, too: night, deep, wreck, navigation dives as well as one-day dive trips to Paradise Island at Punta Russia and cave diving in the fresh water cave of Lake Dudu near Cabrera. New on the program: nitrox dives. Non-divers also find a broad variety of sports and leisure activities in and around the area like: snorkeling, swimming, horseback riding, canyoning, mountainbike tours, golf, tennis, river-rafting, deep sea fishing, Catamaran tours, Jeep Safaris, hiking and many things more. In surfer's paradise Cabarete, only 12 kilometers (8 miles) east of Sosua, wind and kite surfers get their money’s worth. Cabarete is one of the best wind and kite surfing spots in the world. Since 1994 the dive centre Merlin operates successfully in Sosua.Jürgen Rumpenhorst, instructor (PADI +IDA (CMAS)), and Waldemar Janesch, instructor (PADI) ,are the leaders of the base .They speak fluently German, English, and Spanish. The base is open all over the year and basically they do boat dives to more then 19 different dive spots close to the Sosua beach reachable by boat by 5-20 minutes.
They dive in small groups (max. 6 pers.)with professional accompanies.
In a familiar vicinity you will get your theoretical classes to make it possible giving good concentration for the studies.
The main classes in the pool will also be in small groups (max. 4 pers.) to give you perfect results in practising the exercises.
All the dive spots chosen for beginners make it possible to give you a dive without pressure in the under water world with friendly qualified personnel.
Merlin also takes care of snorkelling and accompanying persons.
